July 1560, in the time of Queen Elizabeth 1st, a company of strolling players leave London on a journey which will take them to the edge of the Forest of Dean.

The journey is long, arduous at times, but they have Morris the Minstrel’s music to lighten their steps along the road.

To the consternation of some of the company Morris’ songs are sometimes less innocent than they might at first seem. Through the words of these songs the secrets of each of their pasts slowly unfold.

In time they each come to the realisation that the others of their company may not be who they had thought them to be.
